Chairman/Secretary’s Report from Malcolm highlighted a disappointing season in terms of results but pleasing depth in numbers of players – 46 players used. Progress has been made towards building a youth side to the club, through kwik cricket and plans for an under 13 side. The tour to Nottingham was hailed a great success in all respects bar one – we didn’t get to play any cricket. Success has been achieved in securing future sponsorship. The golf days have been exceptionally well supported. Malcolm had been asked by “some players”, absent on the night, to express concern that they were not getting value for money from their match fees. This comment was received by the meeting with incredulity.

The Treasurer’s report showed a profit of £631 for the year, helped by some generous sponsorship. Thanks were expressed to Alec who is relinquishing the treasurer’s position after a ten year tenure.

The following officers were elected : President – Mrs S Knight Vice President – Mr D Peppiatt Chairman/Secretary/Welfare Officer – M Kauffman Vice Chairman/Treasurer – G Jackson Assistant Secretary – R Bird Assistant Treasurer – R Ashling

Belton’s 40th anniversary falls in 2008 and a sub committee was formed to plan and organised some form of celebration match where players past and present could be invited to attend to commemorate the occasion. Sub committee to be ; M Kauffman, S Knight, D Peppiatt, G Jackson, R Bird, R Goreham.

Nets have been planned for Lynn Grove High School once again, throughout the spring. Quiz night – Wally is to be approached and asked to prepare a quiz evening. If he is unavailable, Alec and Russell will do one.

Proposed rule changes for the Norfolk Cricket League were discussed in preparation for the forthcoming league AGM. The Mid Norfolk Sunday League is seeking to reorganise its divisions, and in doing so has invited us to move up one division, even though the only reason we finished in second place was because Brooke were docked points for failing to fulfil fixtures. After discussion the meeting voted by 3 votes to 2 to decline the league’s offer.

The following officials were then elected: Saturday Captain – Tom Knight Vice Captain – Mark Jackson Sunday Captain – Richard Ashling Vice Captain – Philip White We have been exploring the possibility of moving our base from Southtown Common to New Road in Belton. The proposals are looking good. We have enough sponsorship to finance a five year lease, the minimum required to secure external finance from the ECB. The Common is becoming less and less suitable for our needs, whereas New Road is ideally placed for forging new links with our home village. Gerry is acting as our link into the Parish Council.

Match fees were discussed but were left unchanged at £7 and £4 after a proposal to reduce them to £5/£2.50 was dropped without a vote being taken. The Tour will be going ahead in 2008, details to follow. Meeting closed at 10.25pm
