Belton Cricket Club – Team Etiquette
A set of simple rules to abide by all BCC members whilst playing
matches that represent this club.
Umpires decision is always final
During matches we all have decisions that go against us.
Sometimes these are hard to accept. However, moaning and
complaining about the decision is not going to make any difference to
the outcome and will only make the club seem like bad sportsmen.
We are better that that.
Time Keeping
This issue affects the whole match from start to finish. Please
arrived at grounds 30 minutes before play is due to start. Get
changed into your kit straight away and be ready for the match to begin
on time. During the match bowl your overs as promptly as possible
and take no longer than 20 minutes for tea. After the match,
don't leave until the kit is packed away and you have paid your match
fee.
Support your Captains
During a match the captains have a lot to remember and do. Be on
hand to support. Offer to umpire, do the scorebook, make drinks,
pack kit away. Doing these things helps your Captain concentrate
on the game – not on what are every player's responsibilities.
Represent the Club
Whilst playing for Belton, you are representing this superb club.
Please remember this at all times. Dress appropriately smart, say
“Thank you” for teas, be polite to others, clear your rubbish and mess
away and respect your team mates and the opposition.
On the field
Remember to applaud new batsmen in, respect the umpires, polish the
ball, don't distract the batsmen, motivate each other (yes, even when
catches are dropped!) Cheating is not tolerated at this club.
Lending a hand
Too few in the club do too much, and we are all part of the club
together. Please lend a hand whenever and where ever you
can. Get the ground ready for play at a home match. Make it
your job to see that it is clear before you leave for the pub!
If these simple rules are not adhered to by any player/players the
captains can request that the club take action – anything from a small
fine to a match ban – it's a club sport, so we all pull together!
Many thanks and enjoy your cricket.
